I
had my 2nd round of Alimta on April 28th.
I had some significant side effects, a outbreak of sores in
my throat that developed over about a 2 week period. It led
to difficulty swallowing, and that bothered me a lot. They
were able to treat that really well with a solution of antacid,
benadryl and lidocaine. They had me swish and swallow, and
it really helped relief the discomfort.
I
was still having a problem with diarrhea, a topic I hate to
mention. But rather than admit me back into the hospital, Dr.
Govindan prescribed tincture of opium, which seems to have solved
that for the most part. Now I'm tired more, but it's a good
trade-off.
I
went in on Monday, May 16th for another series of CT scans.
It took them 6 attempts to get my IV staretd this time, to
administer my contrast dye. My arm is sore, and has shades
of green and purple it didn't have before! This Wednsday I
see Dr. Simpson, who did my previous 2 gamma
knife procedures, and then Thursday I have labs, my CT
review with Dr. Govindan, and the 2nd round of Alimta. I'll
know more after talking with Dr. Govindan, so stop on by soon
for the update. Until then, keep smiling, and thanks to all
who have visited my guestbook.
